Sahil Khattar was born on Thursday, 21 March 1991 (age 32 years; as of 2023) in Chandigarh, India. His zodiac sign is Aries. He attended Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-16, Chandigarh for primary and secondary education. Later he got himself enrolled at the D.A.V. College Chandigarh to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Sahil Khattar was known to be dating the Indian playback singer and lyricist Shruti Pathak. The couple were dating each other since 2018 but had not accepted to make it public until 2019 when Sahil Khattar comments on Shruti’s birthday post made it obvious for their fans to know about their relationship status. During a media interaction, Sahil Khattar revealed that he did not keep it a secret intentionally but was going with the flow. He said,

We intentionally didn’t hide our relationship or tried to keep it a secret. We used to often go out and chill together. But yes, when on her birthday I posted a picture with her captioning my feelings towards her, a lot of people noticed. No one saw it before because that time, I was not doing ‘83.’ This is not my first relationship but no one bothered to jump in my personal life till now.”

I think it was very mutual. There was nothing like pehle kisne zaahir kiya. She is a very strong headed person and brings stability in my life whereas I am the bonkers, energetic, mad guy. So that is what balances out for sure.”

Career

Radio

Sahil Khattar, after completing his formal education, started working as a radio jockey. He hosted a show called “Love Guru” for Radio Mirchi, a local radio station of Chandigarh.

TV Host

Sahil Khattar has hosted a series of reality television shows. To being with he hosted the sixth season of the Indian dance reality show “Dance India Dance.” The show was judged by Mudassar Khan, Marzi Pestonji, and Mini Pradhan, and was co-hosted by Sahil Khattar and Amruta Khanvilkar. Later, he also hosted some other reality shows including India’s Raw Star and India’s Got Talent.

Apart from reality shows, Sahil Khattar has also been a host for many sports telecasts. He hosted the sports events like the Russia World Cup 2018 on Sony Ten 3, the Pro wrestling League, and the live cricket show like the India tour of England on Sony Liv.

Acting

Film

Sahil Khattar made his acting debut in 2021 with Sarthak Dasgupta and Alok Batra directed crime thriller film ‘200 Halla Ho.’ The film showcases the story of a real-life incident that happened in 2004 in which 200 Dalit women united and took legal action against Akku Yadav, a gangster, robber, serial rapist, and killer. Sahil Khattar played a crucial character named Bali Choudhary in the film and received huge appreciation for it. The film was digitally released on 20 August 2021.

In the same year, Sahil Khattar also featured in the Hindi-language sports film ’83.’ The film was first announced in September 2017 by Reliance Entertainment and Vibri Media. The companies hosted an event to announce the film with the team that had won the 1983 World Cup before shooting. The shooting of the film began on 5 June 2019 in England and the film was announced to be released on 24 December 2021. Sahil Khattar played the character of Syed Kirmani, a former Indian cricketer who was part of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team. The role of Kirmani was offered to Sahil because of his resemblance to him. Sahil, during an interview, revealed that he got the role because of his looks. He said,

The good part was I never auditioned for the role. It was given to me after looking at my face. I look like a twin brother of Syed Kirmani. So when the film came to me, I was actually in a good state of mind where I could recognize the potential of this film.”

The lead cast of the film included Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, and R Badree. Sahil Khattar had to go under vigorous training sessions to perform Syed Kirmani role. He did hours of net training and suffered many injuries. Talking about his preparations for the role, he said,

I had injured all my body parts, including my hands, legs, and back, which were all were swollen while playing the game. We were made to do 250 squats every day. I think after Beyonce, my butt should be insured. Because of the training, I have become so fit while shooting for the film.”

Television

In 2011, he ventured to move out of Chandigarh in order to explore the entertainment field in Mumbai. When he told his parents about the same, his mother tried her best to keep him in their city and his father insisted him on joining their family business. To pursue his dream of becoming the entertainment king, he lied to his family by telling them that he is going for a reality show and will be back in just a month. Sahil Khattar made his television debut in 2011 with the comedy dating show “Date Trap” aired on UTV Bindass. He acted in multiple episodes of the show. He got his next break-in StarPlus’ comedy reality show “Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala.”

Sahil Khattar rose to fame after he started appearing in comedy videos for the YouTube channel “Being Indian.” Talking about his association with “Being Indian,” he said,

It gave me a second lifeline to my career. There was a time in between when I had no work at hand. Things changed after ‘Being Indian’ came into my life, and I have never looked back since then and I never intend to as well. We started it hoping this would work and it did. We created that market when YouTube didn’t even exist.”

In November 2021, Sahil Khattar became the co-owner of the YouTube channel ‘Being Indian.’ The channel was initially created by Culture Machine and later was sold to another company. Sahil Khattar used to perform comedy skits over the channel and gained huge popularity for the same. Recalling his old days he narrated,

Earlier ‘Being Indian’ used to run on sketch and non-fiction but now we are going to do long-form content as well. So, we are going to stream web series, sketches, skits, and street interviews. I am happy that things are under my control and I am going to figure out what the programming would be. We would do live shows like Saturday Night, a lot of talk shows, sketch comedy, reaction videos as well as blogs along with FIFA screening as well.”

Sahil Khattar also has his own YouTube channel name “Khattarnaak.” He proudly embraces his choice of starting his own YouTube channel. When asked about it, he said,

Thank God, that I stepped outside and opened up my own YouTube channel in between and I started getting many deals. There is no big proof about my talent apart from ‘Being Indian’. It is an honour and pleasure to be associated with it.”
