Career

In August 2003, Sanket Upadhyay joined Hindustan Times and began working as a Staff Writer and served the position till August 2005. Thereafter, he began working at NDTV as its Correspondent and served the position till October 2007. He then joined NewsX in Delhi in October 2007 and began working as a Principal Correspondent of the news channel. Sanket Upadhyay worked with NewsX till March 2008. In March 2008, he started working as the Principal Correspondent at Headlines Today, TV Today, and Aaj Tak and served the position till July 2008. He then joined TIMES NOW Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group) as the Deputy News Editor in July 2008 and served the position till February 2014.

Sanket Upadhyay joined TV Today in Noida as a Senior News Editor in February 2014 and worked there till July 2016. Sanket Upadhyay was appointed as the Head of Output operations of the channel and was the host of the morning Prime Time show – First Up. In July 2016, he started working with the Network18 Media & Investments Limited in Noida as a Deputy Executive Editor and served the position till May 2018. Sanket Upadhyay was appointed for content conceptualisation, creation, and execution of the the channel’s news content. Sanket Upadhyay was the host of The Big Debate, the high rated 7 pm show of Network18 Media & Investments Limited.

Later, in May 2019, Sanket Upadhyay started working as a Consulting Editor at NDTV.

Facts/Trivia

• On 16 October 2020, on one of his social media accounts, Sanket Upadhyay shared some pictures while he was working in his NDTV newsroom cabin. In the background of the pictures, he was caught watching the news on the channel Republic TV. Soon after the pictures went viral on social media, Arnab Goswami, the Republic TV Editor-in-Chief heard boasting on his news channel show that most of the NDTV’s news anchors watch Republic Television and the number of viewers of NDTV was less than Republic TV. Arnab Goswami said,
  

  Tak waale are so bad even their own employees would rather watch Republic TV!”

• In March 2021, Sanket Upadhyay uploaded an old picture on one of his social media accounts. In the caption of this picture, he mentioned that he, along with his father and sister, went on the Dandi route in 1994 and walked 390 km.

• According to Sanket Upadhyay, his great-grandfather was the Magistrate of Faizabad during the 1950s. In one of his social media posts, he shared an appreciation letter that his grandfather issued to someone on 8 July 1958 when Sanket’s father was two years old.
