He is married to Mohua Chatterjee who is working as a teacher in Kolkata, and the couple is blessed with a daughter, Hiya Chatterjee.
Career
Before making his debut in films, he worked with Charbak, Jochhon Dastidar’s theatre group for almost six years. He then joined his father’s theatre group, Biswarupa. He started his career as an actor in a Hindi TV serial directed by Saibal Mitra, which is based on Samaresh Majumdar’s Kaalpurush. He played the character of Topshe in a television series directed by Sandip Ray.
He has acted in many Bengali films including ‘Aamar Bhuvan’ (2002), ‘Abar Aranye’ (2003), ‘Aabar Asibo Phire’ (2004), ‘Teen Yaari Katha’ (2006), ‘Rang Milanti’ (2011), ‘Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana’ (2016), ‘Basu Poribar’ (2019), ‘Sannyasi Deshonayok’ (2020), and ‘Habuchandra Raja Gabuchandra Mantri’ (2020).
He got immense popularity with the Sujoy Ghosh’s 2012 Hindi film, ‘Kahaani’ in which he played the role of a killer ‘Bob Biswas.’
He played the role of “Tutti Futti” aka “Biplab Bagchi” in the Bollywood film, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ (2017).
In 2017, he appeared in a short film, ‘Mickey & Mimi.’ In the same year, he acted in the ALT Balaji’s Bengali web-series, ‘Dhimaner Dinkaal.’
He was roped in the 2020 Hindi film, ‘Dil Bechara’ starring Late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi.
