Shreyas Puranik is an Indian singer, music composer, and songwriter. He predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. In February 2024, he won the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for the song “Satranga” from the Hindi film ‘Animal’ (2023).

Shreyas Puranik was born in 1993 (age 31 years; as of 2024) in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He did his schooling at DAV Public School, Korba, Chhattisgarh. He pursued a B.Com at Mithibai College of Commerce, Mumbai. In 2008, he moved to Mumbai where he took a formal training in music from Suresh Wadkar.

Career

Film

He started his career as an assistant music director under Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the Hindi film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015). He composed the music of the songs ‘Gajanana’ and ‘Ab Tohe Jane Na Doongi’ for the film. He also sang the song ‘Ab Tohe Jane Na Doongi’ alongside Payal Dev. Later, he assisted Bhansali on the Hindi films ‘Padmaavat’ (2017) and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ (2022).

He worked as a music composer for the Marathi films ‘PhotoCopy’ (2016), ‘Lapachhapi’ (2016), and ‘Faster Fene’ (2017).

In 2019, he worked as a singer and music composer for the song “Nadh Khula” from the Hindi film ‘Malaal.’ He also did a rap in the song “Aila Re” from the film. The following year, he worked as a music composer for the Hindi short film ‘Budh’ (Awaking). In 2023, he composed the music for the song “Satranga” from the Hindi film ‘Animal.’ The song was sung by Arijit Singh.

In 2018, he released his first Hindi music video ‘Main Hoon Tera’ for which he worked as a singer, music composer, and lyricist. The music video was uploaded on his YouTube channel ‘Shreyas Puranik.’ He composed the music for the Hindi music video ‘Yaad Teri’ (2019), sung by Rahul Vaidya.

In 2022, he sang the song and composed the music for the Hindi music video ‘Mehfooz Hai Tu.’ He worked as a music composer for various music videos including ‘Kuch Tum Bhi’ (2019), ‘Chhap Tikal’ (2021), ‘Meherma’ (2021), ‘Uff’ (2022), and ‘Aadha Dil’ (2023).

Puranik has also composed the music of the title track for Riteish Deshmukh‘s Marathi TV reality show ‘Vikta Ka Uttar’ (2016), which aired on Star Pravah. Apart from films and music videos, he has also composed music for several television commercials.
