Sudhansh Pant was born on Tuesday, 14 February 1967 (age 56 Years; as of 2023) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Aquarius. In 1981, he completed his school education at St.Joseph’s College, Nainital. Later, he completed his Bachelor of Technology (Hons.) degree from IIT Kharagpur.

Career
After finishing his studies at IIT Kharagpur, Sudhansh Pant got a job at a big company in Mumbai as a corporate trainee. However, later, he decided to leave that job to prepare for the civil services exam. While he was preparing for the civil services, he worked as a teacher at a school in Nainital. When he tried the UPSC exam for the first time, he was selected for revenue services. But on his second attempt, he performed better, getting the 45th rank and being assigned to the Rajasthan cadre.
Civil Servant
After completing his training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Sudhansh Pant joined as a civil servant in 1992. He then served as a Collector and District Magistrate in different districts including Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Bhilwara, and Jaipur. In these roles, he took up important positions such as Chairman and Managing Director of the State Power Transmission Corporation, the State Power Distribution Companies, and the State Renewable Energy Corporation. After that, Sudhansh Pant became the Secretary of the Mines and Petroleum Department of the Rajasthan Government. He also worked as the Commissioner of the Jaipur Development Authority and as the Secretary of the Urban Local Bodies and Housing Department. Apart from this, he has a lot of experience in the Cooperative Sector and has been in charge of several Co-operative Federations.
In January 2018, Sudhansh Pant began working as the Joint Secretary in the Department of Pharmaceuticals. In this role, he was responsible for handling different areas related to Pharmaceuticals like Pharmaceuticals Policy, Planning, Development of the Pharma Industry, Research and Development in the Pharma sector, Pricing, and International Cooperation matters. While working in the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Pant received recognition for creating drafts for several important bills that resulted in lowering the prices of medicines and medical devices in India. Sudhansh Pant worked at the Centre from September 2014 to December 2019. During his time as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health, he played a crucial role in creating the bill for the National Medical Commission, which replaced the Medical Council of India. This bill was later approved by Rajya Sabha. He also took charge of planning to open 75 medical colleges across the country at the same time. Out of these, 15 medical colleges were set up in Rajasthan. Additionally, Sudhansh Pant was involved in drafting the National Commission Bill and the Allied Health Professionals Bill during this period.
In December 2019, Sudhansh Pant was made the principal secretary of the Forest and Environment Department in Rajasthan by the Gehlot government. Then, in June 2023, there was a bureaucratic reshuffle conducted by the Central government. Sudhansh Pant was appointed as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Health and Family Welfare. He was also chosen to be the new Union Health Secretary. The Personnel Ministry issued an order explaining that he would take over as the Secretary in the Department once the Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan, retired on 31 July 2023. Before this, Sudhansh Pant worked as the Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.
