Sumit Goswami is an Indian singer and lyricist who is known for writing, singing and composing many songs in the Haryanvi language.

Sumit Goswami was born on Monday, 18 November 1996 (age 26 years; as of 2022) in Daulati Village, Sonepat, Haryana. He pursued higher education at Polytechnic Engineering College in Haryana. He was interested in singing since childhood and started writing songs in class ninth. His father was not in favour of his singing career, and he wanted him to become an engineer. His father used to underestimate him a lot. Whenever he used to talk about becoming a singer, his father used to laugh at him and call him Sheikh Chilli (Day Dreamer or Impractical person). This hurt Sumit’s feelings and he told his father that he would earn a lot of money and make his career big as a singer. He obeyed whatever his father said and took admission to a college, but his desire to become a singer never stopped.

Career
After completing his studies, he started doing night shifts in a private company. He used to work in the office at the night and composed songs during the day. His first song titled ‘Karobaar’ was released in January 2018.
He did not tell his parents about this song. The song did not gain much fame, but his family started supporting him a lot after this. He released the audio of his second song ‘Gangwar with Bawli Tared’ which received a lot of appreciation from the public. Later, he uploaded the video of the song on YouTube that starred Vicky Kajla. After the release of the song, Sumit became a popular singer in Haryana.

In 2019, he directed and composed the Haryanvi music video ‘Yaar Ki Shaadi.’
He composed other Haryanvi music videos like Tora (2020), Yaara (2021), and Pyar Mera (2021).

In 2012, he was featured in the film Gangs of Wasseypur as an inspector investigating the assassination.

Controversy
In October 2020, some people gathered in front of Sumit’s house and started firing. The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera and the video went viral on social media. The people who fired ran away from the spot. According to the police, Sumit was threatened because his name was included in the suicide of a man named Aman Bainsla who committed suicide in 2020. He lived with his parents and sister in Sector-11 Rohini, Shahbad. Before he died, he posted a video on social media in which he mentioned Sumit and a girl’s name who cheated him on some business project.
