Swati Singh was born on Tuesday, 01 August 1978 (age 45 years; as of 2023) in Bokaro, Jharkhand. She obtained a Master of Management Studies degree from the University of Allahabad in 2001. She pursued a Master of Legislative Laws at the University of Lucknow in 2007.

Career
After Swati Singh’s husband, Daya Shankar Singh was arrested and expelled from the Bharatiya Janta Party over the defamatory case of the BSP leader Mayawati, Swati Singh joined the BJP party as the president of BJP Mahila Morcha, a women’s wing of Bharatiya Janata Party in October 2016. In 2017, she contested the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from the Sarojini Nagar constituency on a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party and won the elections. She defeated Anurag Yadav from Samajwadi Party by a margin of 34,179 votes and became state minister in the Ministry of Women Welfare, Family Welfare, Maternity and Child Welfare. She has also served as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Woman Welfare NRI, Flood Control, Agriculture export, Agriculture Marketing, and Agriculture Foreign Trade in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Controversies
Beer Bar Inauguration
In May 2017, some photos of Swati Singh inaugurating a beer bar, Be the Beer, in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow went viral on social media due to which she faced a lot of criticism from the opposition as well as the public. Two senior IPS officers Gaurav Pandey (SSP, Rae Bareli) and his wife Neha Pandey (SP, Unnao) were also seen with Swati during the inauguration event. These pictures went out while women were protesting against liquor sales and consumption in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked for clarity on it. When Swati Singh was asked about the incident she said
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sought an explanation from me; I have nothing more to say.”
Domestic Abuse Case
In July 2016, Swati’s sister-in-law, Asha, accused Swati of domestic abuse. She claimed that Swati and other family members used to torture her physically and mentally even when she was pregnant. She got married to Swati’s brother, Puneet, in May 2005 and within a few months, the family started abusing her and have thrown her out of the house several times. They threaten to kill her and her child. She claimed that in 2008, she lodged a complaint against her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and Swati but someone must have forged it as the name of Swati Singh is missing from the complaint file.
Complaint Against BSP Leader Mayawati
In 2016, Daya Shankar was suspended and expelled from the BJP party when he called BSP supremo leader Mayawati, a prostitute. During the protest against Daya Shankar, some of the BSP activists started using foul language against the wife and daughter of Daya Shankar. Swati Singh, her mother-in-law, and others filed an FIR against the Mayawati and other activists of the BSP party at a police station in Lucknow.
Threatening a Police Officer
In November 2019, an audiotape of Swati Singh went viral, in which she was asking Circle Officer Binu Singh about filing an FIR against the Ansal Builders and ordering her to quash the FIR. Swati was heard claiming that the case against the Ansal Builder was fake and the higher authorities have asked not to file any complaint against the builders. In this matter, CM Yogi summoned the minister and asked for clarification.
Claims Against Husband, Daya Shankar Singh
Amid the tension between Swati Singh and Daya Shankar Singh for the ticket from Sarojini Nagar for the 2022 Legislative Assembly elections, an audio recording went viral in which Swati Singh while talking to someone said that her situation is not well, please give her papers otherwise, if Daya Shankar got to know he would beat her. When she was asked about the audio, she said it was an old clip.
