Teresa worked for 40 years in the banking industry, before retiring to continue serving her community. She has had a chance to serve on the boards of the 30th Circuit Juvenile Detention Center, A+ Program, Industrial Development Authority, Bolivar Educational Advancement Foundation, as well as Bolivar Chamber of Commerce. She has also volunteered for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Teresa has a strong commitment to education. She and her husband Mike work with at-risk high schoolers as co-chairs of the Board of Directors for Jobs for America’s Graduates-Missouri, Inc. (JAG-Missouri). They highlight the importance of education to the next generation of leaders, as well as financial literacy and money management.

Her husband Mike is an American politician and former law enforcement officer who is the 57th Governor of Missouri, having taken office on June 1, 2018, following the resignation of Eric Greitens. Parson graduated from Wheatland High School in 1973.

In 1975, Parson enlisted in the U.S. Army, and over 6 years served two tours in the Military Police working up to sergeant. While in the Army, Parson attended night classes at the University of Maryland and the University of Hawaii, without completion of a degree.
