Vandana is married to the criminal defense lawyer Shirish Gupte. The couple tied the knot on 20 March 1973. They are blessed with a son named Abhijit Gupte. In 2023, Vandana and Shirish celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Film

Vandana made her film debut with the Marathi film ‘Pasant Aahe Mulgi.’ Her notable movies include Pachhadlel (2004), Meerabai Not Out (2008), Samaantar (2009), and Andhali Koshimbir (2014).

Gupte has acted in 50 plays. She started her career in 1970 with the Marathi language all-women play ‘Padmashree Dhundiraj.’ This was followed by many plays such as ‘Madanbaadhaa,’ ‘Gaganbhedi,’ ‘Jhunja,’ ‘Char Diwas Premache,’ etc. Later, she appeared in a Hindi play named ‘Char Din Pyaar Ke.’ Her Marathi play ‘Haravlelya Pattyancha Banglaa’ gained a lot of applause from the audience.

  • She won a Filmfare Award Marathi in the category of Best Actress Critics for her role ‘Malati Sabnis’ in the film ‘Family Katha’ (2006).
