Facts/Trivia

- He got good support from his family. His father was working as the executive of a cosmetic brand in Delhi but had to give up his job to pursue his son’s career in cricket. In an interview, his father told,
“I had to ensure he got the best kit and gear to play from an early age. I gave him the best of English willow bats. He didn’t have just one bat, I kept upgrading them. We had cut down on our expenses. My father was an army man. The pension that he received was used to run the household. Yash would always wonder how we were managing it.”
- His grandfather used to take him to a cricket academy for training where he would wait outside till his training gets completed.
- Once Yash was asked about his role model, to which, he replied,
“Anyone who plays at the international level is good enough to learn from. I follow everyone’s game closely. I don’t copy anybody, but everyone is my hero.”
- He always wanted to become a medium-pace bowler but on the advice of his coach at Bal Bhawan cricket Academy, Pradeep Kochhar, he shifted to batting. Talking about his coach, he said,
“It was because of his guidance that I was able to become the captain of Team India in Under-19 due to better batting.”
- Talking about his capabilities, his coach Pradeep Kochhar told,
“What stood out immediately was Dhull’s ball sense. As the years progressed, Kochar noticed a quality that could not be taught. He didn’t let pressure affect him. He was sensible, calm, and controlled his emotions well. It is this nature that makes him special. Youngsters find it hard to handle the pressure of expectations these days. Yash is an exception.”
